Together with our strategic partners, AWS and MHP, we had the opportunity at this year’s Hannover Messe on April 18th to talk about the Industrial Cloud vision, the Digital Production Platform and how we are reinventing automotive production with our use cases.
Frank Göller (Volkswagen AG), Matthias Behrens (Volkswagen AG), Wendy Bauer (AWS) and Daniel Giangrande (MHP) took the stage together to explain the vision of connected production in the cloud, how we co-create use cases and gave an outlook on the future of the Industrial Cloud ecosystem.
The Industrial Cloud ecosystem consists of three pillars: The first pillar is the Digital Production Platform as the base architecture and standard operating system for the global production network, the second is Industrial Cloud Solutions as a partner implementing Volkswagen's proven IOT solutions in the external market, and the third pillar is Catena-X, which connects the entire supply chain with digital solutions to increase efficiency. AWS enables this as a technological pioneer.
As part of the partnership, we are working intensively on the joint development and scaling of proven use cases for the entire Volkswagen Group in order to connect all plants to the cloud and create synergies. One example of a successful implementation of Industrial Cloud Solutions is the Paintshop use case which aims to create a common database for paint shop quality data that is hardware independent.
The last major initiative in the Industrial Cloud ecosystem is Catena-X, a collaborative open data ecosystem that connects global players in end-to-end value chains. Both initiatives will make us more efficient, sustainable, and resilient in production and logistics.
The ultimate goal is to co-create use cases that are seamlessly connected to the cloud and share their data in a synchronous data universe, focusing on knowledge transfer and mutual learning to become more connected as teams while also pushing towards a more connected production.
